destro is a new robot I have been working on since late in July 2006. I have been wanting to make a horizontal bar spinner for a while now. They can do a lot of damage, and if built right they are fun to drive. The idea i had in mind was to make the robot as big as possible, with out loosing any  stuctual integraty. It was origanaly designed to fit roughly in an 11" x 11" square, but i was unable to make the robot under weight, so i made it a bit smaller. Another think i really would like to see is 6061 Aluminum parts, but i will have to see how light i could make it.

The great thing abot horizontal bar spinners is that you can get easy big hits. Which in turn makes it much more effective. If you build it properly and operate it correctly you can get some really big hits, which obviously is a good thing.

8/6/06 (Design time 3 hours)

after a lot of time thinking about the design I thought thinks might turn out better if the frame was a little shorter and more compact. then i can make the bot mostly out of aluminum and it will make the frame stronger. There are alot of things that will be changed, CADs will be posted when the design it complete.
I found a great piece of titanium on eBay, I have many diffrent ideas for it. One that is ideal to me it the one posted.

Today was a very productive day. I was able to finish just about all of the frame. The lexan pieces have been pocketed and drilled out and fro the most part complete. I was also able to add a newer version of the weapon moduale. My idea for the weapon is to make the whole plateform modular. So is anything breaks, or i want to replace it. It easily can be done. The newer version also saves a bit of weight

Today I was able to start work on the robot. I headed over to out shop to get some of the material cut to size, and start the machineing on the parts for the frame. I was able to mill the back piece, side motor mounts, and front lexan parts. I also prepared a few other parts which I will start on tommarow. I orded some of the Aluminum and Titanium I will need to complete the robot. I would say that today was a good sart, I got a good three hours of work in and finished a lot.
